Main control panel
The main control panel houses controls for the hot oil heater, optional unloading pump, and optional mixers for polymer modified asphalt cement.
If the tank is outfitted with optional power-actuated asphalt valves, the main control panel houses relays for the valve controls. Controls for power-actuated valves are typically mounted in a separate control panel located in the control house.
Controls for an optional metering package can be mounted in the main control panel or on the metering package itself, depending on tank configuration or customer preference.

Tank temperature control Asphalt tank temperature control is achieved by a temperature sensor, a controller and a three-way valve. The valve controls flow of hot oil to the tank coils. The valve opens and closes in response to the controller to maintain the stored asphalt at set temperature. Heating is automatically shut off before the asphalt level drops below the tops of the heating coils.
