Temperature control Temperature control is achieved by two temperature sensors and two controllers. One controller is the main asphalt temperature controller, the other is a backup high-temperature controller for safety. Both controllers control burner on/off functions. The burner fires into the fire tube or shuts off in response to the controllers to maintain the stored asphalt at set temperature. Heating is automatically shut off before the asphalt level drops below the top of the fire tube.
Standard burner for direct-fired asphalt tanks is an oil-fired, on/off burner. Low-high-low, low-high-off, and fully modulating burners are available. Burners fueled by natural gas or combination gas/oil are also available.
