The Project Designer/Engineer is responsible for designing equipment and piping for terminals, asphalt plants, polymer plants, emulsion plants, etc. He/she will also create equipment layouts to meet customer needs. This person will provide technical support to customers, Sales, Service, Parts. Etc. The Project Designer/Engineer will estimate man hours and coordinate job site activities for certain projects. This individual will be familiar with the layout, general operation, and process of asphalt plants, terminals, tank farms, emulsion plants and polymer plants.
The Project Designer/Engineer will size, specify and/or design heaters, meters, asphalt and hot oil pumps ad piping, steam generators and condensate lines, mixers, heating coils, tanks and burners. Will also establish number of hot oil circuits and jacketed valves required for jobs, understand the layout of tank farm, route AC piping for recirculation, create and/or modify P&ID’s, design piping systems, design OSHA compliant ladders and walkways and be familiar with API & UL certifications. This person will perform other functions as required. Travel will be required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred. (Experience may be considered in lieu of degree). The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related field. Experience sizing and specifying pumps and routing and sizing piping would be preferred. Experience in any of the essential functions listed above would be a plus. Ability to use Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) is required. AutoCAD experience is required with Autodesk Inventor being a huge plus..
General Work Schedule:
This position will be scheduled Monday thru Friday and require weekend work when necessary. This individual must be willing and able to stay later than scheduled at times to ensure customer needs are met. Position will report to: Engineering Manager, Construction Products.
