Polymer blending system, Ergon terminal, Bainbridge, GA

Polymer blending system at Ergon terminal in Georgia.
View showing the control panel and hopper.

Note the auger above the two mix tanks. It feeds polymer pellets into the mix tanks through two flexible tubes known as a pants chute.

A diverter gate at its entrance is remotely controlled and allows the polymer to be directed to either mix tank.

A box dumper and a hopper appear behind the control panel in this photo. A box of polymer pellets is placed into the hopper using a lift truck.

After the box is opened a hydraulic cylinder tilts it 90 degrees allowing the pellets to empty into the hopper.

Some systems also have a hoist on an overhead rail to place bagged pellets over the hopper.
